4th battalion shoulder title

23rd Battalion (4th Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers

The 4th battalion was officially authorised by the War Office on the 16th November 1914 although recruiting had continued even after the completion of the 3rd battalion. The battalion was reduced to cadre on 17th June 1918 and was part of the 197th Brigade near Aumale when thewar finally ended.
